| Landgoed Niënhof, also called Nieuwenhof, is a nature reserve bordering the Kromme Rijn. Once owned by Klooster Oostbroek, it came into private hands in 1685. Shortly afterwards, the eighteenth-century country house (seen in these photos) was built. At the end of the 19th century (1892-94), a new, larger country house was built and the 'old' one was converted into a coachman's house. That new country house was demolished again in 1929. Towards the end of the 20th century, the 'old' country house was restored and expanded into the main building. Nowadays, the Kromme Rijn Information Centre of Het Utrechts Landschap. The estate has a very rich flora and fauna and is therefore also a protected nature reserve. It is freely accessible. The house has the status of municipal monument. |
Landgoed Niënhof, ook wel Nieuwenhof genoemd is een natuurgebied grenzend aan de Kromme Rijn. Ooit in bezit van Klooster Oostbroek kwam het in 1685 in particuliere handen. Kort daarna werd het achttiende-eeuwse landhuis (te zien op deze foto's) gebouwd. Eind 19e eeuw (1892-94) werd een nieuw, groter landhuis gebouwd en werd het 'oude' verbouwd tot koetsierswoning . Dat nieuwe landhuis werd in 1929 alweer gesloopt. Tegen het eind van de 20ste eeuw werd het 'oude' landhuis gerestaureerd en uitgebreid tot hoofdgebouw. Tegenwoordig Informatiecentrum De Kromme Rijn van Het Utrechts Landschap. Het landgoed heeft een zeer rijke flora en fauna en is daarom ook een beschermd natuurgebied. Het is vrij toegankelijk. Het huis heeft de status gemeentelijk monument. |
